The Grand Opening

On December 5th, 2023, the Avon Pet Pantry held its grand opening event with the cutting of the leash.

The Pet Pantry is located in the town Animal Control facility at 11 Arch RD, Avon, CT.

The event was a resounding success, with food distributed to help pets in need and a huge outpouring of donations from the community. The driving force behind this project is the dynamic duo of Christine Pescatore of the town Social Services department and Angela Grano the town Animal Control Officer. The town manager was on hand to cut the leash, and the Farmington Valley press covered the event. This is a huge success on the part of Christine and Angela, and they should be very proud of their accomplishment.

This is Food Banks for Pets first ground-up accomplishment, assisting the town of Avon to go from having no program to assist hungry pets in need to having a full-fledged Pet Pantry. Food Banks for Pets assisted with mentoring and financial support. We are very proud of the accomplishments of Christine and Angela and are honored to have been able to play a part in their success.
